lacher pacheco is from santo domingo pueblo. she is a ph.d. candidate in teaching, learning, and sociocultural studies at the university of arizona’s college of education, specializing in children’s & young adult literature with a minor in environmental & sustainability education. her research focuses on reader response theory with her advisor, dr. kathy short.

lacher was a student intern for the university of arizona’s school to garden workshop. she is also a carson scholar and recipient of the agnes nelms haury research award. her research, funded by nsf, focused on career pathways in food, energy, and water systems with and within native american communities (native fews alliance).
